WINTERIZING YOUR IRRIGATION SYSTEM

1. Insulate your system:

  • Shut off the water supply to the irrigation system.
  • Protect your main shut off valve with insulation.

(foam insulation tape and/or a plastic bag)

  • Insulate above ground piping.

2. Drain the pipes:

  • Remove the water from the pipes and sprinklers

3. Protect valves & backflow preventers:

  • Insulate backflow preventers and valves if they are above ground.
  • Be sure not to block the air vents and drain outlets on backflow preventers
